TDS Commercial: setting new standards in sustainability
TDS Commercial: setting new standards in sustainability

At TDS Commercial, sustainability is a core part of how we operate. Based in West London and serving hospitality and commercial clients across the capital and surrounding areas, we are proud to be setting new standards in sustainable commercial laundry operations through the installation of a pioneering water management and recycling system.

As demand for responsible, environmentally conscious suppliers continues to grow, commercial laundries play an increasingly important role in supporting sustainability goals across sectors such as hotels, restaurants, spas and leisure facilities.

At TDS Commercial, we believe that meaningful change comes from long-term investment, innovation and having accountability for our operations.

A growing business with sustainability at its core

TDS Commercial operates from a 6,000 sq. ft purpose-built facility, employing around 30 dedicated staff and delivering high-quality laundry services to a wide range of commercial clients. As an independent commercial laundry business, we have continued to evolve our operations to meet both the demands of our customers and the wider environmental responsibilities of our industry.

Under the leadership of Managing Director, Rona Tait, the business has grown with a clear focus on efficiency, high quality and sustainability. This balance allows us to deliver consistent results for our clients while continually improving how we manage water and other resources across our operations.

Investing in innovative water management technology

One of the most significant recent developments at TDS Commercial has been the installation of an advanced water management and filtration system, designed to optimise water recovery and dramatically reduce the use of fresh water within our laundry processes.

Working in close collaboration with Christeyns UK, we engineered a bespoke, compact solution tailored specifically to our operational needs. The system filters and recycles water wherever possible, allowing us to minimise waste while maintaining the high quality and hygiene standards required in commercial laundry environments.

This investment represents a major step forward in reducing environmental impact while also improving operational efficiency:

“The system has functioned well so far with an immediate and obvious reduction in freshwater use. The laundry processes 1.25 million kgs of laundry per annum and based on this quantity Christeyns forecasts a total water saving of 3,744m3, equivalent to over £9k in water and energy savings.”

Reducing environmental impact while supporting clients

The benefits of the new water management system extend beyond our own operations. By reducing water consumption and improving efficiency, we are able to support our clients in meeting their own sustainability objectives and commitments.

Many hospitality and commercial businesses are increasingly focused on working with suppliers that align with their values. Choosing a commercial laundry provider that actively invests in water efficiency and sustainable processes helps demonstrate responsible supply chain management, which is something that is becoming ever more important to our customers and stakeholders.

A long-term commitment to responsible operations

Rona emphasises the importance of this investment:

“We all have to consider everything we do and how we do it, and to work in such a way as to meet what sustainable goals we can. This new installation helps us be more eco-friendly, which is important to me and to my business, and my customers can be confident that they are using a sustainable supplier.”

This approach reflects TDS Commercial’s wider philosophy of making considered, long-term decisions that benefit the environment, the business, the community and of course, the clients we serve.

Setting standards for the commercial laundry industry

The installation of this pioneering water management system reinforces TDS Commercial’s position as a forward-thinking, responsible operator within the UK commercial laundry industry. It demonstrates what is possible when businesses invest in innovation, collaborate with specialist partners and commit to continuous improvement and sustainability measures.

As environmental pressures increase and expectations around sustainability continue to evolve, commercial laundries have an important role to play in supporting greener operations across multiple sectors. At TDS Commercial, we are proud to be part of that progress.
